Tata Motors has said that it will unveil its low-cost car, better known as the ''Rs1-lakh car'', on 10 January at a special ceremony during the 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi from 10 January to 17 January. Although the car will be unveiled at the Expo, the commercial launch of the car will take place later in 2008.

The first public presentation of the low-cost car will be made at an Auto Expo, in keeping with the company's tradition of presenting a new model at an auto expo.

The low-cost car that has caught the imagination of virtually the entire country, has also been the subject of much speculation in the auto industry, with competitors periodically casting doubts over its feasibility.

Incidentally Tata Motors is participating at the New Delhi Auto Expo jointly with Fiat India Automobile Private Limited with a pavilion spread over 5,200 square metres.
