Chennai : Hindustan Motors in collaboration with Japanese car maker Mitsubishi has launched a refurbished version of its SUV Mitsubishi Pajero SFX.The new model comes with a wider stance and higher ground-clearance.
The SUV available in a dual tone shades and sports wider tyres. The company has put in a new headlamp cluster, dual tone wheel cover, spoke alloy wheels, two-stage power antenna and wider foot boards.
Pajero’s Super Select four-wheel drive (SS4-II) offers 4 different drive modes (2H, 4H, 4HLc and 4LLc) with evenly distributed torque on demand.The car has a 2.8 litre Turbocharged Intercooler Direct Injection Diesel engine and is priced at Rs 18.81 lakh (ex-showroom).
New Delhi: The rising steel prices have hit the auto component industry hard.According to data released by Auto Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), the industry representative body of the auto component industry, an analysis of the quarterly performance of more than 50 top auto-component manufacturers for the quarter ended December ‘ 07 reveals a continuous decline in the profitability of the industry.
Most of the companies have registered a negative growth in their profit margins.
Companies with higher share of exports have seen a bigger decline in profitability. ACMA believes that the incessant and steep rise in the prices of steel since December 07 by more than 25% has added to the woes of the industry.
Most auto-component manufacturers are almost completely dependant on steel raw material for manufacturing high tech and safety critical components like wheels, transmissions, engine and engine parts, steering gears, suspensions as well as a host of sheet metal parts that are used in vehicle bodies and chassis.
Bangalore: Volvo Buses India have grabbed an additional order to supply 240 city buses to the city’s bus operator Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). The bus maker has already supplied 70 buses to BMTC. The operator decided two years ago to invest in air-conditioned city buses from Volvo These additional city buses from Volvo are expected to be delivered between 2008 and the beginning of 2009. Nearly 40 of these buses will be placed in traffic between the city centre and the new airport.
The remainder will operate on various routes in Bangalore.
In a statement the company said that the buses will be built in Volvo’s plant in Bangalore. The chassis will be produced in the joint plant with Volvo Trucks and the bodies in Volvo’s new body plant that was inaugurated at the end of January.
Volvo’s city bus in India is built on the B7RLE chassis and the body is designed after the Volvo 8700 European model. It features low entry, a wheel chair ramp and air conditioning. The 290-hp engine meets the Euro III emission standard. “In addition to Bangalore, we have sold city buses to Pune,Chennai and Mysore. When we now have opened our own body plant,we have all the possibilities to grow, in India as well as in export markets,” said a company spokesperson in a statement.
New Delhi: The radio cab space in metros like Delhi is heating up with many new players launching their services to attract every day commuters. The latest entrant is V Linx Taxis, which recently announced the launch of its taxis in Delhi and Hyderabad. In Delhi, the company has deployed about 250 cabs.Just as the other radio cabs, this one too claims to offer GPS radio tracking system.
