Tata Motors, India`s largest automobile company presented the Tata Nano and three other vehicles at the 78th Geneva Motor Show. The other three to be unveiled were the new generation Indica, the new Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT and the Xenon.
The Nano will first be launched in India in 2008. The new generation Indica will be launched in the latter part of 2008 in the international markets. The Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT and the Xenon have just been introduced in selected markets.
Speaking on the occasion at the Geneva Motor Show, Ratan N. Tata, chairman of the Tata Group and Tata Motors (Q, N,C,F)* said, `` in 1998, when we displayed the Indica at Geneva, which marked our entry into passenger cars. The last decade has been a period of significant development in Tata Motors` capabilities. The display of the Nano, which is a first for the global automobile industry, and the new generation Indica signifies this in-house progression.``
The Nano is designed as an all-weather, safe family car at an affordable price. When launched in India, the car will be available in both -- the standard and the deluxe versions. The standard version has been priced at Rs 100,000 (about USD 2,500 / Euro 1,700), excluding VAT and transportation cost.

With over 4 million Tata vehicles plying in India, it is the leader in commercial vehicles and the second largest in passenger vehicles. It is also the world`s fifth largest medium and heavy truck manufacturer and the second largest heavy bus manufacturer. Tata cars, buses and trucks are being marketed in several countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and South America.
Shares of the company gained Rs 8.65, or 1.25%, to settle at Rs 701.8. The total volume of shares traded was 155,826 at the BSE.(Tuesday)
