AUTO EXPO 2008: Showtime for the Indian auto industry

  The Auto Expo is scheduled at the time when the Indian Automotive Industry is on its way to become an active player in the global automotive scenario. Since major international auto makers are sourcing a wide range of auto components from India, attracted by the reasonable cost of high-quality products, the auto expo is now increasingly becoming popular among the auto component manufacturers. Tata Motors has already announced that the company will display its much-talked about “People’s Car” at the forthcoming expo. Auto Expo 2008 will have largest ever overseas participation with country pavilions from Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Taiwan, UK and USA. To accommodate excessive bookings the expo has 10 extra hangers. The last Auto Expo 2006, recorded more than 1,30,000 trade enquiries and orders worth Rs 538 crore. Most of the trade inquiries received were related to auto component sourcing or manufacture. The growth in the Indian Automotive Industry is very well visible at the AUTO EXPO 2008 - it is slated to be the largest ever in the history of Auto Expo, with the following key features: Largest ever Overseas participation with Country Pavilions from Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Taiwan, UK and USA, Participation from 28 countries – Austria, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK, UAE, and USA. For the first time, Auto Expo is covering an area of over 100,000 sqmtrs spread into 18 permanent halls, 10 temporary halls being created by using international hanger structures, and a number of State Pavilions. Around 2000 participants covering the entire gamut of the Automotive Industry from around the world. This has a 60% Indian and 40% overseas participation. Robo Expo – a concurrent show that is introduced for the first time with Auto Expo – focusing on Robotics and Automation Techniques for the Automotive Industry. Auto enterprise – a focused show for the Small Scale sector companies displaying a variety of products for the Automotive Industry. Special focused pavilions at Auto Expo 2008 for sectors such as Accessories/Audio, Alternate Fuel Technologies, Design & Software solutions, Diesel City, Garage Equipment Technologies, Infotronics, etc. Vintage & Classic Car Display in association with the Heritage Motoring Club of India. A new avenue to encourage Engineering Students to take up Automotive Engineering & Designing as a focused subject – An introduction of Styling & Design My Car Contest Focused Visitor Promotion Programmes – Participation of Auto Expo Brand in International Automotive Fairs; Alliances with International Magazines; Alliances with Banks; Financial Institutions, Schools Delegations from JAMA (Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association) , KAMA (Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association), SMMT, UK (Society of Vehicle Manufacturers & Traders). Overseas Delegations from APMA-Canada ,PSA Peugeot Citroen (Outsourcing) – Europe ,France, Forum Indien - Germany, VDA-Germany, Centro Estero per l'Internazionalizzazione s.c.p.a. – Italy, MACPMA – Malaysia, SAE International, UK Trade Investment Board, Magna International (Outsourcing) – Canada. Trade Visitors and Buyer/Sourcing Delegations from 55 countries already registered to visit Auto Expo 2008 through the Auto Expo Website and other Trade Portals. Organized jointly by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Auto Expo 2008, 9th in the series, is being scheduled from 10th to 17th January, 2008 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The exhibition is open to Trade and General visitors from 11th to 17th January, 2008 Regular quality upgradation, steady growth in size, and the introduction of new features at each event over the years have helped Auto Expo to emerge as one of the leading automotive shows in the world. Auto Expo 2008 – The Complete Automotive Show – is now accredited by OICA (Organization Internationale Des Constructeurs D' Automobiles - International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers). Auto Expo is the only Automotive Exhibition in this part of the world with OICA Accreditation. Member companies (of ACMA ,CII & SIAM) have also played a major role in achieving this target for Auto Expo by way of joining the Auto Expo Steering Committee, Working Group, comprising of representatives from the Marketing & Communication departments of member companies, and Task Forces/Sub Committees (under the Working Group), and extended their guidance, support and involvement for making Auto Expo the best International Automotive Event in India. “Mobility for All” is the theme for Auto Expo 2008. To support and sustain this theme, the Auto Expo 2008 will have a series of international quality automobiles on display, for every category of customers in India. A series of new products by major Automobile Manufacturers are expected to be launched/unveiled on the Exclusive Media Days - 9th and 10th January, 2008.
