Maruti Suzuki December Auto Sales Rise on India Demand, Exports

Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., maker of half the cars sold in the country, reported a 9.7 percent increase in sales last month, helped by exports.
The automaker sold 62,515 cars, vans and sport-utility vehicles last month in India and overseas compared with 56,985 a year earlier, it said in an e-mailed statement today.
Exports rose 75 percent to 4,114.
It's the 22nd consecutive monthly rise in sales for the New Delhi-based automaker.
The company last reported a drop in sales in February 2006.
Maruti is 54 percent owned by Suzuki Motor Corp.
