Companies from Germany, Malaysia participate in Auto Expo

New Delhi (PTI): A large number of automotive companies from Germany and Malaysia are participating in the ongoing Auto Expo which is likely to give a fillip to India's trade with the two nations.
Over 70 German companies are participating in the Expo this year, a CII release said.
Managing Director of German Association of Automotive Industry (VDA) Achim Rauber said there were opportunities awaiting for both the countries in the sector.
"For instance, India exported cars worth 25 million euros in the first three quarters of the year 2007 alone and the supply industry in India had increased its exports to Germany by 20 per cent in the first nine months of the year 2007, taking them upto 140 million euros," the release said.
The number of German brand cars exported to India in 2007 doubled compared with the year before and with sales of 154 million euros, German suppliers were able to increase their exports to India by more than half in the first nine months of 2007 compared with the same period a year before, it said.
Major German companies participating this year include Bosch, Mercedes, Skoda and VolksWagen.
Similarly, among the gamut of foreign exhibitors, for the first time a strong delegation of 10 Malaysian companies are exhibiting their technology and products at the Expo.
"Business deals, networking, and building relations through joint ventures are our expectations and objective in Auto Expo 2008," Mohd Feisal Ezuan Abdul Aziz, Assistant Manager (Product and Services Development Division) in Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, said.
